Microsoft Sterts Selling Xbox Controllers Parts
Microsoft has started selling parts for Xbox controllers in its online store. Now owners of Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers and standard Xbox Wireless Controllers can repair these devices themselves.
With each part, the manufacturer provides downloadable instructions and video tutorials to help gamers fix many problems on their own, including stick drifting and sticky triggers. Boards, sticks, buttons, case covers and more are already available in some countries. Of course, everything is available only in Microsoft branded stores. Prices for repair components vary: button sets cost $24, circuit board and joystick mechanism $60, and vibration motor $35. In the future, the company promises to expand the range.
The cost of repair kits for a standard wireless controller is expectedly lower – from $20 to $35. Curiously, iFixit also sells parts for Xbox controllers, and they come with a lifetime warranty. At the same time, Microsoft only gives a one-year warranty on parts for gamepads.
