Lenovo Releases Legion C700 Portable Console

Lenovo has officially unveiled the Legion C700, a portable Android device designed for cloud gaming and remote gaming from your computer.

The C700 itself is quite large, measuring 292.9 mm wide and weighing 556 g. For comparison, the Steam Deck OLED weighs approximately 640 g. The console features a 7.82-inch LCD display with a Full HD resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

In terms of hardware, the Legion C700 falls more in the budget segment of Android consoles. It’s powered by an actively cooled octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor. It comes with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of expandable flash storage. An 8,000 mAh battery provides battery life. The combination of a relatively efficient processor and a large battery should ensure long battery life, although Lenovo isn’t yet providing exact battery life figures.

Designed for streaming data rather than local graphics processing, the Legion C700’s key difference lies in its task distribution. Lenovo positions the device as a terminal that receives images and sends control commands when gaming via the cloud or streaming directly from a PC. This eliminates the need to process resource-intensive local graphics data, as is the case with portable Windows-based gaming consoles.

This approach offers the most obvious advantages in terms of size and weight. With a chassis weighing just 556 grams, the Legion C700 can reduce hand strain during long gaming sessions compared to some heavier Windows-based devices. According to the published information, the device is available in Ice White.

Conversely, it’s not a suitable model for evaluating performance based solely on the device’s processor power. Image quality, frame rate stability, and control responsiveness will depend on the connection between the device, the game server, or the PC running the game.

The Lenovo Legion Cloud Gaming Handheld C700 is now available in China. The version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs 2,199 yuan (approximately $327). The price of the lower-end version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage has not yet been announced. It is also unknown whether Lenovo plans to sell the C700 outside of China.
