NVIDIA officially released DLSS 5, which is now available in NBA 2K27 on GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. The new GeForce Game Ready driver, 616.64, was also released.

3D-Guided Neural Rendering uses game engine data, including geometry, textures, lighting, and motion data, to modify the lighting and appearance of objects using a neural network. In NBA 2K27, Nvidia and Visual Concepts used the technology to more realistically render skin, hair, and contact shadows, while preserving the original player geometry.

Nvidia also confirmed that DLSS 5 will officially launch on GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards. Currently, the company is focusing on optimizing the technology for the RTX 50 series, with plans to add support for the previous generation later.

The first experiments with RTX 40 appeared even before the technology’s official release. After leaking files from NBA 2K27, modders were able to adapt DLSS 5 to previous-generation graphics cards and enable the technology in other games. NVIDIA has now effectively confirmed that RTX 40 support will be official, but no release date has been announced yet.
