YouTube Testing Video Summaries Generated By AI
YouTube is testing a new AI feature that allows you to automatically create a short summary of the video. Such summaries have begun to appear on the watch and search pages, but are only available to a limited number of English-language videos and viewers.
Artificial intelligence is used to create short summaries of the content of the videos that are displayed when scrolling the page or in search results. It is noted that the purpose of the innovation is to improve user experience and increase the efficiency of video search by interests.
So far, the function only works with videos in English. The technology behind the innovation is likely based on the Google Bard chatbot, which is capable of generating texts on various topics, like ChatGPT.
The feature is under testing and will be available to a limited number of users on August 1, 2023. The completion date of the experiment is unknown. If successful, it will be implemented in the public version of YouTube.
