Lenovo And Micron Presented The World’s First Laptop With LPCAMM2 Memory Modules

Lenovo has announced an update to its seventh-generation flagship ThinkPad P1 laptop. The new model will receive improved technical specifications and components.

The main innovation will be the use of the innovative LPCAMM2 memory module manufactured by Micron.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 work laptop is positioned as a solution for artificial intelligence systems. It runs on the latest generation Intel chips – up to Core Ultra 9 185H; and, in addition to integrated graphics, can be equipped with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060/4070 discrete gaming video card or a professional Nvidia RTX 1000/2000/3000 Ada Generation. In addition, Lenovo notes, this is the world’s first laptop with LPCAMM2 memory. It takes up 64% less chassis space and consumes 61% less power than SODIMM because it uses LPDDR5X chips instead of regular DDR5.

In addition to benefits in terms of speed, efficiency and physical size, LPCAMM2 offers the ability to operate one module in dual-channel mode. In this case, the user can replace new memory modules on his own, just like SODIMM.

Lenovo promises to begin sales of the updated seventh generation ThinkPad P1 laptop in June 2024. Prices start from 2450 euros
