Apple To Use Google’s Gemini Neural Network In The Next Generation iPhone

Apple CEO Tim Cook’s promises to make an important announcement regarding artificial intelligence systems by the end of the year probably intrigued many, but few could have imagined that the company would cooperate with competitors. According to Bloomberg, Google’s Gemini platform could be the basis for some of the new iPhone features due to be unveiled this fall.

Google and Apple have a long history of cooperation. Google pays Apple because the Safari browser on many Apple devices uses Google’s search engine by default. However, there are still no clear agreements regarding the prospects for using Gemini.

Apple is preparing special artificial intelligence functions of its own design for its devices. Moreover, Apple’s own chatbots and other ongoing developments lag behind third-party solutions in terms of efficiency and accuracy, according to informed sources. In particular, Apple has been testing its own large language model, Ajax, since early last year. Some employees also tried Apple’s main GPT chatbot

Against this backdrop, Apple needs a platform that runs in the cloud, and in this area, cooperation with Google just makes sense. For Google, a deal of this kind is also profitable, since more than 2 billion Apple devices are currently in use around the world. Rival Samsung also did not “reinvent the wheel”, and in January announced the use of Google Gemini in its new generation smartphones.
