PS5 Pro To Receive A CPU Overclock Of Up To 3.85 GHz – 10% Faster Than PS 5
According to Insider Gaming editor Tom Henderson, the PlayStation 5 Pro will use an eight-core AMD processor based on the Zen 2 architecture, like the regular PS5, but it will operate at a higher clock speed. It is noted that thanks to support for the so-called High CPU Frequency Mode, the chip will be able to operate at frequencies up to 3.85 GHz, which is 10% higher than the current version of the processor.
The new console will support PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) intelligent time scaling technology, which is credited with supporting 8K resolution.
The GPU will receive a more significant improvement. It will be based on the more modern AMD RDNA 3 architecture and will have 60 compute units. This is 67% higher than the AMD RDNA 2 graphics in the current PS5. The new console’s GPU is expected to operate at up to 2.18 GHz. The rendering performance of the new console will be up to 45% higher. In addition, the new PlayStation 5 Pro graphics subsystem will offer 2-3 times faster ray tracing performance.
As for the release, analysts call the most likely release date for the PS5 Pro November 2024 – exactly 3 years after the launch of the PlayStation 5. The expected price is from $599 to $699.
