Apple to Release Two AirPods Models in September
American technology corporation Apple will introduce two versions of the new, fourth generation AirPods in September, the 9to5Mac portal reports, citing a new issue of the Power On newsletter by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the AirPods 4 are set to replace both models, with the base model replacing the AirPods 2 and the mid-range model replacing the AirPods 3. Both models will have a similar design. However, to reiterate, the mid-range AirPods 4 will have active noise cancellation, while the base AirPods will not. It’s also worth noting that the mid-range AirPods 4 should not be confused with the AirPods Pro 3, which Gurman claims will not be updated until the end of the year.
Preliminary data also suggests that the AirPods 4 will likely support a USB-C port, and the base model will not have wireless charging, while the mid-range model will. Apple followed this strategy with both the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3, so it stands to reason that it will continue this time around.
