Samsung Showcases The World’s First 17-Inch “Slidable” Display

Samsung Display and Intel are working on “slidable” PCs. Yesterday was shown a prototype that transforms from a 13-inch tablet to a 17-inch display.

Representatives of Samsung said that the device can be increased or decreased in size if necessary. The company did not disclose the exact characteristics of the prototype – resolution, brightness and other specifications.

According to journalists, the fact that the Korean corporation called its new device a retractable display indicates that Samsung wants to distinguish its own product from the rest. It also matters that such hybrid displays were usually released for smartphones, and Slidable Flex Duet is focused on use with a computer.

Samsung has been talking about Slideable displays for a while now. Perhaps this demo is an indication that Samsung’s retractable displays are almost ready for release. Or maybe it’s just a demonstration of a futuristic technology that may never see the light of day.
