Musk Intends To Abandon Mobile Communications
American entrepreneur Elon Musk said that he is going to give up mobile communications and use the social network X instead.
Even before the deal to purchase the social network X (then Twitter) was closed, Musk said that he planned to turn the microblogging platform into a super application similar to the Chinese WeChat. A year later, audio and video communication functions appeared in the iOS version of the application, and recently these capabilities were opened for Android users. These features have been tested since the summer.
To use voice and video calls on social network X, you need to enable this feature in the settings. There you can also specify from whom calls can come: you can choose between all users of the platform, subscribers and contacts from the address book. To establish a connection with a user, you need to open a correspondence with him and select the communication format in the upper right corner of the window – voice or via video.
Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion. The new owner immediately announced plans both in the management of the company and in the policy of the social network itself. In particular, the number of employees was significantly reduced, and the social network acquired a number of functions.
In July last year, a rebranding was carried out, as a result of which the logo and name of the social network Twitter were changed to X.
