Silicon-Carbon Batteries In HONOR Smartphones

Despite the gradual improvement in smartphone performance, one key component has remained the same over the years: batteries. Just like a decade ago, manufacturers are still using lithium polymer batteries. However, the Chinese company HONOR seems ready to break this tradition.

The first officially confirmed case of using silicon-carbon batteries was the foldable HONOR Magic V2, which is finally reaching the international market. In September last year, we were able to briefly get acquainted with this gadget, which immediately became the thinnest folding smartphone – and in six months no one managed to shake this championship. Of course, because one of the main reasons for such advantages was a new type of battery – especially compact and with increased capacity.

The main difference between the revolutionary batteries is the absence of lithium, which has traditionally been used for decades.  Instead, a silicon-carbon composition is used. This makes the batteries more compact while maintaining high capacity.

In addition, the new batteries are characterized by increased safety and stability. They can withstand more charging cycles without losing capacity. And their design reduces the risk of fire even in the event of breakdowns and damage.

The transition to silicon-carbon represents a real breakthrough for the smartphone industry.  HONOR was the first among manufacturers to master this technology in commercial devices, and this paves the way for the creation of more compact and productive gadgets.
