Disney Bought Epic Games’ Stake For $1.5 Billion
Disney bought Epic Games’ stake for $1.5 billion. The companies will develop a joint social Fortnite universe.
Disney is expanding its presence in Fortnite: the two companies will jointly create a new universe that will be presented in the game.
This new universe will reportedly offer consumers a variety of ways to play, watch, purchase, and interact with content, characters, and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.
Exactly how the Fortnite integration will work isn’t specified, but Disney says players will be able to “create their own stories and experiences,” “showcase their passion in Disney’s signature style,” and share content.
Disney officials are particularly excited about the acquisition: It marks the company’s biggest entry into the world of video games and opens up enormous opportunities for growth and expansion.
