DJI Neo: A Compact Drone With The Ability To Decord 4K Video

Chinese DJI has unveiled a miniature unmanned aerial vehicle, the Neo, designed to film its owner.

The DJI Neo controller is truly unnecessary. The owner simply presses a button on the drone’s body to select predefined flight patterns: it can follow the user, hover, circle overhead, and zoom in or out. The DJI Neo launches in seconds, records, and then returns and lands right in the palm of the hand, without requiring the owner to have any experience flying drones. It can and will crash, but the flexible frame will withstand the impact.

DJI Neo supports 4K video recording at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps; it can take 12-megapixel photos in 4:3 or 16:9 formats; there is a mechanical single-axis stabilization system and software stabilization. Support for 4:3 video recording is promised in the future. The on-board storage of DJI Neo has a capacity of 20 GB, and it cannot be expanded; the battery life is enough for 18 minutes; the weight of the device is 135 g.

The DJI Neo costs just €199. There are also kits available, such as the Neo Fly More Combo, which costs €349 and includes the drone with remote control, batteries and charger.
