According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to release a home security system with smart video recording and AI image analysis in 2027.
Apple’s new security system is privacy-focused. It uses AI to analyze images from surveillance cameras, eliminating the need for constant recording. Only when it detects something important, such as movement in the frame, will it activate video recording.
Previously, the manufacturer added the ability to display video streams from compatible surveillance cameras via the Apple TV 4K set-top box. Currently, the Apple TV serves as the centerpiece of this system, but the company plans to release a dedicated device in the future. Instead of storing all raw video, the system will be able to notify owners of items that may be of interest, such as the time a person appeared in the frame. This will help eliminate unnecessary bandwidth consumption and allow for faster monitoring before an alarm is triggered.
Other brands also produce similar devices, and Apple will be responsible for integrating them into its product ecosystem.
