The Magic Leap 2 Launches September 30th For $3,299

After announcing the details of its Magic Leap 2 release strategy over the summer, the company has launched its latest augmented reality product for sale. Regardless, don’t expect to just walk into your local electronics store and buy one, as this release is aimed at commercial buyers.

The $3299 Magic Leap 2 base edition will include the goggles and hardware. The Developer Pro version will offer a variety of software tools for software development, as well as early access to new software. However, this version will not be intended for commercial use. The $4,999 Enterprise Bundle will offer quarterly software and tool updates to better integrate Magic Leap 2 into commercial organizations.

The Magic Leap 2 is based on a quad-core and eight-thread AMD processor based on a 7nm process technology, operating at up to 3.92 GHz. It has an integrated AMD graphics core with eight compute units and a frequency of up to 1.8 GHz. The amount of permanent memory of the gadget is 256 GB.

The display resolution of Magic Leap 2 is 1440 × 1760 pixels, the screen brightness varies from 20 to 2000 cd/m2.  It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and supports 16.8M colors. The device received three cameras for positioning in space and four sensors that track eye movement. There’s also a 12.6-megapixel autofocus camera capable of shooting 4K video at 30 fps or Full HD resolution at 60 fps.  Additionally, there are built-in stereo speakers.  The battery of the device is designed for 3.5 hours of battery life or 7.5 hours of standby time.

Each version comes with glasses, a mini-computer that powers them, and a simple controller in the form of a remote control.  Outwardly, the novelty is similar to the previous model, which at the start was sold for $2295.  The weight of the new glasses has decreased from 316 to 260 grams. The viewing angle of the novelty is increased to 70 degrees.  It’s still limited, but the picture is now “less square” than its predecessor.

The Base edition will cost $3,299, while the Developer Pro will be priced at $4,099, and the Enterprise will cost $4,999.
