Tesla Unveiled A Real Prototype Of Its Robot Optimus

Elon Musk said last August that Tesla is developing a multifunctional humanoid robot that can understand complex commands and perform a wide range of tasks with advanced arms, move at a speed of about 8.5 kilometers per hour and carry a load of up to 20 kilograms.

Yesterday, Musk held a presentation where he showed a real prototype of a robot that entered the stage without help and wires. At the same time, the insides of the robot were visible. Although everything looked pretty good.

The robot was developed in February 2022, Musk said. He showed a video of a prototype performing simple tasks like carrying boxes, watering flowers, or lifting metal bars at a plant in California.

The presented sample, according to the head of Tesla, is more advanced and close to the one that the company plans to put into production. In a few weeks, Musk says, the robot will be able to walk on its own. “I think Optimus will be incredible in five or ten years, just mind blowing,” he said.

It is reported that the price of the model will be 20 thousand dollars. The robot will weigh 73 kilograms. It will include a battery with a capacity of 2.3 kW / h, a microcircuit system and actuators for controlling limbs. Musk expressed hope that Tesla will begin taking orders for Optimus in the next three to five years.
