TCL Introduced RayNeo X2 AR Glasses
At CES 2023, TCL officially unveiled its first augmented reality glasses. The device is called TCL RayNeo X2 and looks almost like ordinary glasses. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal memory.
The basis of the gadget was the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, designed for AR / VR headsets. And the Micro-LED display offers a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 with brightness up to 1,000 cd/m², meaning the image remains readable even in bright sunlight. The manufacturer also promises that it will be possible to order a version with diopter glasses, no additional lenses will be required.
Glasses from TCL are different from bulky AR headsets like HoloLens or Magic Leap and more like Google Glass. The manufacturer also spoke about applications for the device. For example, a smart navigation system overlays virtual signs to help the user navigate the terrain. RayNeo X2 also displays pop-up windows of calls and messages or broadcast text transcripts of telephone conversations in real time. In addition, there is a built-in camera for taking photos and recording videos.
The cost of TCL RayNeo X2 has not yet been announced. The gadget will be handed over to developers in the first quarter of 2023 for testing.
