Samsung Shows Off The Galaxy Ring

Samsung has finally showcased its long-awaited multi-function Galaxy Ring at the Mobile World Conference (MWC 2024). The technology accessory focuses on health and wellness and will be available in three colors: platinum silver, gold and black ceramic.

The Galaxy Ring, equipped with sensitive sensors, will be able to provide readings about heart rate, breathing, amount of movement during sleep and the time it takes a person to fall asleep,” Park said. “This device will give users insight into their physical and mental readiness, allowing them to assess how productive they can be.”

In pursuit of innovation, Samsung is also actively developing non-invasive blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure measurement, which Park says represents a huge step forward in health monitoring, making it more accessible and convenient.

Reporters weren’t allowed to photograph the ring at MWC, but some additional images from Samsung show it to be a bumpy, concave, comparatively thick ring that will be offered in sizes 5 to 13, marked S to XL.

Access to the information collected by the smart ring will occur through the Samsung Health application, and sales of the ring will begin this year. So far, Park has not disclosed either the price or the exact timing of the product’s appearance on the market. However, he mentioned the possibility of adding a contactless payment function: “We have a whole team dedicated to this. But I think we’re certainly looking at a lot of different uses for the ring, not just in healthcare.”

The Galaxy Ring will only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones, although the company plans to make it work with other Android devices later.
