Meta has announced an update for Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses that will allow users to track what they eat.
Meta claims its AI-powered glasses will now be able to “extract key nutritional data” with “a simple voice prompt or a quick photo.” A food log will be added to the Meta AI app, and this data will be used to personalize answers to nutrition questions. The company also promised that in the future, the smart glasses will be able to “automatically record your food” using the camera.
According to Meta, the wearer of its smart glasses will be able to ask Meta AI questions about food, such as “What should I eat to boost my energy levels?”, and the neural network will provide an answer based on the user’s food history and goals. The company also announced that the glasses’ AI assistant will move from a question-and-answer mode to continuous monitoring, providing detailed and personalized nutrition information.
It’s noted that the feature will only be available to adult users. The launch is expected in the US soon, and for models with a built-in display, this summer.
