iPhone 6 Plus Is Officially Obsolete

The iPhone 6 Plus is now considered obsolete by Apple, meaning its stores and authorized partners will no longer offer repairs or other service for this model. Apple considers a product “obsolete” if seven years have passed since the company last made it available for sale.

Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, at that time their key advantages were larger screen sizes than their predecessors and support for Apple Pay. Sales of the iPhone 6 Plus were completely discontinued in September 2016, the iPhone 6 was luckier – it remained available from resellers in some countries for several more years, so it is still not considered “obsolete”. With the release of iOS 13 in 2019, support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was completely discontinued.

The fourth-generation iPad Mini is now classified as a “vintage” device by Apple, meaning it has been sold for more than five years. Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will continue to service vintage products for the next two years, subject to parts availability.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are among the best-selling iPhones ever. In total, Apple sold 224 million of these devices.
