GSMA decided to cancel Mobile World Congress
This year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona will be cancelled due to the global concerns regarding the coronavirus outbreak, John Hoffman, CEO GSMA stated few hours ago. The show was scheduled for February 24 – 27.
This follows announcements from some of industry’s key players that they will cancel participation in the exhibition, including ZTE, Sony, Ericsson, Amazon, Nvidia, Intel, Viber, as well as Nokia and HMD. Operators Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, Sprint and NTT Docomo were also among the missing big names.
MWC is one of the leading tech events in the world bringing together over 100 000 participants from the telecommunications, online services, mobile apps, hardware manufacturers and media. Key industry announcements were made on the stage of the show and list of the speakers includes some of the most recognizable tech names like Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Eric Schmidt, SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son, etc.
