Cruise Introduces An Android App For Self-Driving Taxis

Cruise has finally launched an Android app that gives potential customers in San Francisco the ability to call one of their robot taxis, even if they’re not iPhone users. To use the Cruise robot taxi service, Android users can download the app from the Google Play store. Once downloaded, users can create an account and add a payment method. The application will show the available pickup locations and the estimated time of arrival of the robotic taxi.

The self-driving car company told that 20 percent of its waitlists run on Android, and the platform’s app is one of the most requested updates on social media. The new Cruise app for Android will include all the updates the iOS app has received since its launch, including the ability to place a movable pin on the map with a long tap on the screen.

Cruise has ambitious plans for its robotaxi service. The company aims to launch a fully autonomous service without human safety drivers by the end of 2023.
