Chevrolet Accidentally Declassified Hybrid Corvette
Chevrolet mistakenly added a yet-to-be-released hybrid version of the Corvette to the configurator. Chevrolet confirmed rumors about a hybrid Corvette in the spring and even showed a video from the tests of the car.
The first hybrid Corvette, which is also the first all-wheel drive variant of the model, was accidentally discovered in Chevy’s online configurator, showing the finished look of the car, its color options and choice of wheels.
The error was noticed by a member of the MidEngineCorvetteForum, who was just working with the C8 renderer when he made the “discovery”.
Chevrolet removed the E-Ray from the site shortly after, but Corvette fans took plenty of screenshots that showed the model got a wider body and longer rear taillight vents like the Z06, but has twin tailpipes like the regular C8.
The hybrid will appear in the summer of 2023 under the name Corvette E-Ray. In the meantime, Chevrolet is looking to spin off the Corvette as a separate premium electric car brand in 2025.
