Blue Origin Opposes Frequent SpaceX Starship Launches In Florida

Last month, SpaceX announced plans to expand the launch facility it leases from NASA at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Thus, the company intends to carry out at least 44 launches of giant Starship rockets per year.

However, Jeff Bezos’ company Blue Origin came out sharply against this initiative, filing a complaint against SpaceX with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to representatives of Blue Origin, a direct competitor of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, the Starship mega-rocket in the form of the ship of the same name and the Super Heavy accelerator carries so much fuel that the safety zone for neighboring sites and for surrounding civilian objects is extremely narrow. Road closures accompanying launches at the stated launch frequency will be a disaster for traffic between all surrounding cities. Thus, the scattering of fragments of concrete covering the launch pad during the first test launch of the Starship complex in Texas reached a neighboring town, and it was a miracle that no one was injured.
