Apple Is Working On A Touchscreen MacBook Pro
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working on touchscreens for Mac computers. The first MacBook Pro with an OLED touch display could be released in 2025.
The design of the device will be preserved. It will retain the trackpad and keyboard, but will add support for touch input, as in the iPad and iPhone.
This device will continue to work under macOS. The company has been actively combining the functions of macOS and iPadOS for more than a year, and tablets and computers run on the same Apple Silicon chips.
Apple has repeatedly abandoned the idea of a Mac with a touch screen. Steve Jobs said in 2010 that “touch surfaces shouldn’t be vertical,” as this type of input can tire your hands. And in 2021, Apple’s chief hardware engineer John Turnus said that the Mac is “fully optimized for input” and the company sees no compelling reason to change the mechanics.
