Apple Introduces iPhone 16
Apple has unveiled a new generation of its iPhone 16 smartphone. The smartphone has a new A18 processor, which, according to the manufacturer, is 30% faster than the processor in the previous generation of iPhone 15 smartphones.
The iPhone 16 has a design that largely mirrors the iPhone 15, with flat edges, a glass back, a Dynamic Island cutout for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors, and a USB-C port for charging/data transfer. While the return to vertically stacked rear lenses may seem like an odd iteration of a design element that Apple has abandoned, the move makes sense to improve support for spatial video, as seen on the Apple Vision Pro. The iPhone 16 has a new capacitive button on the side of the device that makes it easier to take photos and videos; Apple calls it the Camera Control button. This button allows for smooth zooming or shutter release. It will also provide access to AI-powered visual search and some other Apple Intelligence features.
In terms of cameras, the iPhone 16’s dual-lens system consists of a 48MP main camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera with autofocus, offering the equivalent of four lenses thanks to a 2x zoom mode on the main camera and a macro mode on the wide-angle camera.
Inside the Pros, the A18 Pro system-on-chip is made using 3-nm technology, is 15% faster than the A17 Pro, and is 20% more energy efficient. The chip is capable of playing AAA games at the level of desktop-class video cards.
The iPhone 16 will be available in five colors – black, beige, pink, green and blue. The iPhone 16 version with 128 GB of primary storage is priced at $799, and the Plus will start at $899.
