Xiaomi Received 75,000 Orders For SU7 And Plans To Deliver 10,000+ Units In June
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi noted that it had received 75,723 orders for its new SU7 electric sports sedan as of April 24, and plans to deliver more than 10,000 units as early as June, company founder Lei Jun said on Thursday.
As Bloomberg explains, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recalled that the company expects to produce about 100,000 electric vehicles this year. By Saturday, the number of orders had already exceeded 70,000, but over the next four days it increased by almost 6,000 more. All this, according to the head of Xiaomi, indicates the high competitiveness of SU7.
The “medium” modification SU7 Pro will begin shipping to customers at the end of next month, and by June Xiaomi expects to produce 10,000 electric vehicles per month. Let us remind you that the enterprise in Beijing is designed to produce 150,000 cars per year, and by the end of this year, Xiaomi expects to deliver only 100,000 electric vehicles to customers. By 2025, a new enterprise will be commissioned, which will increase the annual production program by another 150,000 electric vehicles.
The debut of the SU7, which is stylistically reminiscent of a Porsche and is offered at a lower price than Tesla’s Model 3, has spurred a price war in the world’s largest electric vehicle market, with makers of similar models announcing price cuts and offering subsidies following the SU7’s release.
