The Artemis-1 Mission Has Been Postponed Again
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has not changed the timing of the Artemis program, which plans to land astronauts on the surface of the Moon, despite the difficulties with the first orbital flight of the Space Launch System launch vehicle. The TASS news agency writes about this, citing the words of the head of the aerospace department, Bill Nelson.
NASA has delayed any new attempt to launch the Artemis lunar mission until at least September 19 after canceling a launch scheduled for Saturday.
The decision, made on Saturday morning, delayed the launch for the second time in a week.
The official clean-up announcement from launch manager Charlie Blackwell Thompson was made around 11:19 a.m. after several failed attempts to stop a liquid hydrogen fuel leak.
Officials announced Saturday afternoon that they will not attempt another launch during the current launch period, which ends Tuesday. Instead, they said the earliest they could try to launch again was the end of September.
“We don’t fire until we think it’s the right thing to do,” said NASA administrator Bill Nelson.
