Steam Sets Peak Online Record – Over 38 Million Users
Valve’s digital distribution service Steam has broken its personal record for the number of simultaneously online users – the last time this happened was on August 25.
SteamDB tells us that Steam’s peak online was 38,367,277 people at approximately 17:00 Moscow time on September 22. There were fewer than 12.3 million users playing games, which is short of the new record (12.5 million was at the end of August).
The most popular game in Valve’s digital service is the tactical shooter Counter-Strike 2. At the time of writing, the title is played by more than 1 million gamers. Dota 2 is in second place.
The sports simulator EA Sports FC 25 became the sales leader on Steam. The game will be released on September 27 on PC and consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One. However, owners of extended access have already started playing the title.
Steam has broken its all-time high for concurrent gamers several times this year, at least in August, July, and several times in March.
