Samsung Unveils 8K Odyssey Neo G9 Curved Gaming Monitor At CES
For CES 2023, Samsung has prepared several new computer monitors that feature original features.
For example, the new version of the Odyssey Neo G9 is positioned as a “super ultra-wide curved display”. Its 57-inch 1000R curved screen uses Quantum Mini LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 specification to deliver a quality picture in any gaming environment. Matte display reduces light reflection.
The monitor supports DisplayPort 2.1, which transfers data approximately twice as fast as DisplayPort 1.4. In addition, the new DP2.1 allows information to be transmitted without distortion using standard lossless Display Stream Compression (DSC).
Samsung also showed the Odyssey OLED G9 with a 49-inch Quad-HD curved display with 1800R resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio. Its quantum dot OLED backlighting is pixel-by-pixel controlled to achieve a high color contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The Odyssey OLED G9 has a response time of just 0.1ms, and the monitor also features a 240Hz refresh rate. The Odyssey OLED G9 runs apps from partners like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube via Smart Hub. It also features the Samsung Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows gamers to play in the cloud from partners like Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now without using a console.
In cases where a monitor is needed for work, Samsung offers a 5K ViewFinity S9 model. This is a 27-inch device with an IPS panel and a matte finish. The monitor has a resolution of 5120×2880 pixels and is capable of reproducing 99% of the DCI-P3 color space. Reported support for HDR600. HDMI, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C and DisplayPort connectors are available for connecting signal sources. The device allows you to rotate the display to portrait orientation. The monitor comes pre-installed with Tizen TV OS, so the user will be able to access streaming applications even without connecting external signal sources.
The Smart Monitor M8 remains in 27-inch size with 4K resolution and four color options (blue, green, pink and white). It is equipped with a height-adjustable stand that supports different tilt angles. The screen can rotate 90 degrees. It complies with VESA mount compatibility standards. When the monitor is in standby mode and detects an authorized smartphone via Bluetooth, it displays the user’s personalized photos, schedules and other information. The monitor returns to standby mode when the phone goes out of range.
