Xiaomi SU7 e-Car Will Cost Less Than $70 000
On March 28, the official premiere of the first Xiaomi car, the Xiaomi SU7, will take place, and today a question-and-answer note was published in China, in which the head of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, spoke about the car.
As noted by Reuters, on Monday, CEO Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi SU7 will be “the most attractive, easy-to-use and smartest machine in the price range of up to 500,000 yuan.” At the current exchange rate, this is just under $70,000, and for the first time a company representative is openly talking about the price positioning of the new product, although he previously transparently hinted at “premium smartphones” and Porsche or Tesla models as a reference point. At the same time, Lei Jun clearly avoided comparing the Xiaomi SU7 with the cheaper Tesla Model 3, which some sources resorted to.
After the official announcement, it became known that Xiaomi SU7 will be released in two versions: SU7 and SU7 Max. The base rear-wheel drive SU7 model has Xiaomi’s own V6 engine with maximum power of 220 kW and torque of 400 Nm. The car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds. The SU7 is equipped with a CATL Qilin battery with a capacity of 73.6 kWh, providing a range of 668 km.
