Microsoft Agrees To Release Call of Duty Games on Nintendo Within 10 Years
Microsoft has signed an agreement with Nintendo to release the Call of Duty game franchise on the platforms of the Japanese company within 10 years. This was told by the head of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer. The agreement will take effect if Microsoft closes its takeover of CoD developer Activision Blizzard. Which game will be ported to Switch first is not known exactly. There is no specific release date.
Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has confirmed that Nintendo Switch owners and Steam users can expect access to the world’s most popular shooter series.
“Microsoft made a 10 year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo following the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping make more games available to more people – no matter what they choose to play.”
“I’m also happy to confirm that Microsoft has committed to continue releasing Call of Duty on Steam and simultaneously on Xbox after we complete our merger with Activision Blizzard King.”
Speaking to The Washington Post, Phil Spencer said that the task will be challenging, but he will form development teams to create new versions of Call of Duty so that the future shooter will appear simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
