[Review] HyperX Cloud Orbit S – The high-end gaming headset

In the world of gaming headsets, there aren’t many differences. Some of the pairs that we see have surround feature, some of them don’t, but the main difference comes when you try out the HyperX Cloud Orbit S.

And what do I mean about this so-called “difference”…. The drivers.
HyperX teamed up with the headphones manufacturer Audeze, and took their Mobius gaming headset.
The headset is really distinguishable in terms of used parts because it features 100mm planar magnetic drivers that have the insane sound frequency of 10 Hz – 50 kHz. They can really produce an immersive sound with strong bass, clear high frequencies and well-balanced mids that are not that wide as you would expect, but they have more to offer than most of the other gaming headsets.

The main difference between the Audeze Mobius and the HyperX Cloud Orbit S is that the second lacks the option for Bluetooth connectivity. A bit of a boomer, but if you are used to using cable headsets, you won’t be disappointed.

The headset comes with three different cables in the box – USB Type-C to Type-C, 3,5 mm to 3,5 mm, USB Type-C to USB-A as you can use the Orbit S with all kind of devices.
The main thing that you’ll have to remember is to charge them if you’re going to use them with the 3,5mm cable. The drivers are so big that they need their separate power – a built-in battery.

Comfort-wise the Orbit S is pretty standard with all the headsets. Nothing fancy here, but the earcups feature a deep and soft memory foam padding, covered with faux leather for better insulation. The sound leakage is minimal and the ear does not touch the inside of the earcup in any way which is crucial for the comfort for long-time usage.
