Google has expanded its Fitbit wearable lineup, introducing the Fitbit Air—the brand’s smallest and lightest tracker yet. The device’s signature feature is its screenless design: all data is viewed exclusively in the Google Health app.
The Fitbit Air works with the new Google Health app, which is available as an update to the existing Fitbit app. It’s available for Android and iOS users. The device automatically tracks user activity, and workouts can be started from your smartphone and then sent to the Google Health app. In addition to 24/7 heart rate monitoring, the Fitbit Air notifies the wearer about irregular heart rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation and heart rate variability.
The Fitbit Air supports Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology. It features a vibration motor for silent wake-up. It’s waterproof to 50 meters. The fitness tracker can be used simultaneously with the Pixel Watch, with automatic switching between devices.
According to Google, the Fitbit Air offers up to seven days of battery life and supports fast charging, providing a full day’s use in just 5 minutes. It charges from 0 to 100% in 90 minutes using the new magnetic charger with a USB Type-C cable.
The Fitbit Air comes with a Performance Loop fabric band (sold separately for $34.99) with a stainless steel buckle. The Fitbit Air itself weighs 5.2g, while the band itself weighs 12g.
Available design options:
- Obsidian band with a matte black stainless steel clasp
- Fog band with a polished silver stainless steel clasp
- Berry band with a polished gold-tone stainless steel clasp
- Lavender band with a polished silver stainless steel clasp
The Fitbit Air is now available for pre-order for $100. It comes with a three-month Google Health Premium subscription.
