Donald Trump Launches His Own TRUMP Meme Token on Solana Network
A couple of days before his inauguration, US President-elect Donald Trump launched his own meme token, TRUMP, on the Solana network. He announced this last night on his Truth Social account.
“My new official Trump meme is here! It’s time to celebrate everything we stood for: victory. Join my special Trump community. Get your $TRUMP now,” the politician wrote on social media platform X, which also included a link to a site selling “Trump memes.” The post remains up on his page, though some have suggested that Trump’s account has been hacked; at the time of writing, it has more than 22 million views.
There were also some dissatisfied people: some X users called on the platform’s owner Elon Musk to stop the cryptocurrency scam, others condemned Trump for trying to profit from them, and still others simply refused to believe that what was happening was real.
Though traders have not missed the opportunity to profit from the new memecoin. According to Lookonchain, one market participant made over $20 million in profit just a couple of hours after TRUMP was launched.
