Aroma Join At CES 2024: The World’s First Speakers Capable For Transmitting Odors
The Japanese company Aromajoin presented at CES 2024 the Aroma Speaker 60 speakers, which reproduce not only sound, but also more than a hundred different unique scents. The manufacturer even offered a software toolkit (SDK) to help content creators combine video with scent for an immersive experience.
Aroma Speaker 60 targets a specific area of space, spreading odors over a distance of about 2 m, and this is enough to attract attention. The smells are distinct, powerful and even dynamic: as scenes change on the screen, one scent disappears and is replaced almost instantly by another.
Aroma Speaker 60 supports both pleasant and unpleasant odors. Thus, at the exhibition, users could smell the aromas of flowers when a clearing was shown on the screen, sweets when a picture of a set table was displayed on the monitor, and smoke with a picture of polluted air.
Smelling speakers can be used almost everywhere: in a home theater, while playing games on a console or computer, while in virtual reality. The price of Aroma Speaker 60 has not yet been disclosed. Also, nothing is known about the timing of the start of sales of the miracle device.
