Apple Mixed Reality Headset To Get M2 Chipset, 16GB RAM
Rumors about a mixed reality headset being developed by Apple have been circulating for months, and according to TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the first version will be released as early as January next year. According to the latest data, the model will receive the flagship Apple M2 chipset, will be able to work with both augmented and virtual reality, and will acquire 16 GB of RAM.
This was reported by well-known journalist Bloomberg Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman). Earlier, Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the Apple headset will receive a single processor with performance equivalent to the M1 model, and a co-processor with less functionality for processing data from the device’s sensors. Although Gurman did not mention the possibility of using a second chip in his report, The Information has already reported on the possibility of such a configuration.
If Apple originally planned to use the M1 as the main chipset, now it would be quite reasonable to switch to a more powerful option. Announced during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the M2 is said to have an 18% faster CPU and 35% faster GPU than the previous M1, according to the data.
There are also rumors that the device will be independent of other gadgets like the iPhone – which is why it should get 16 GB of RAM. This indirectly indicates that the new product will be much more productive than the Meta Quest 2 VR headset with 6 GB of RAM, built on the Snapdragon XR2 platform.
