What’s New In iOS 17

iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and watchOS 10 were presented in June at WWDC 2023. Since then, Cupertino has been persistently testing new firmware for three months in order to release them today to everyone. Operating systems are already available for installation through the “Software Update” section on all your compatible devices.

Developers from Apple have implemented the StandBy function in iOS 17, after activation of which an iPhone standing on charge will turn into an information center. To use this function, the smartphone must be in a horizontal position on the stand and connected to the charger. In StandBy mode, the smartphone will display the date and time, which makes it look like a regular desktop clock, incoming notifications, widgets and other information.

Another innovation is the appearance of interactive widgets that are available on the home screen and lock screen of the iPhone. They will allow you to perform various actions, for example, control smart home devices, without having to launch the corresponding application.

In addition to this, the autocorrect function has been improved, and errors can now be corrected with literally one touch. AirDrop adds NameDrop functionality to quickly share contacts with nearby iPhones. In the “Phone” application, it became possible to add posters that the interlocutors will see when calling them. FaceTime now supports video messages that can be left if the user does not answer the call. The Safari browser has received a number of improvements, including a locked private browsing window, a password sharing option, additional anti-spying tools, and more.

The update will gradually appear on all supported devices. Traditionally, on days when new versions of the system are released, Apple servers are under heavy load due to the large number of people wanting to upgrade.
