Opera to Add Integration of ChatGPT and Other AI Services
Opera adds a ChatGPT-based tool to the sidebar that generates summaries of web pages and articles. The feature, called Shrink, is part of the company’s broader plans to integrate AI tools into its browser, similar to what Microsoft is doing with Edge.
As you can see from the short video posted on Opera’s official YouTube channel, ChatGPT is very easy to use. Any user can activate this feature by clicking the Shortcut button to the right of the address bar. A ChatGPT sidebar will appear on the left, creating a neat, bulleted summary of the article or web page the user is viewing.
Per Wetterdal, Head of Strategic Partnerships and AI Ecosystem, said “We view the rise of generative intelligence as the beginning of a new future in which developers of consumer applications such as Opera can create new experiences based on AI platforms. We’re excited to see solutions like Google Bard roll out quickly, and we’re starting to build and implement new web browsing experiences that were unimaginable until recently.”
New AI-based services are changing the way we interact with products. Interest in AI services has skyrocketed, with the number of ChatGPT users recently surpassing the 100 million mark in record time. Opera’s upcoming AI integration will complement current capabilities that provide direct access to the most in-demand platforms on the web, such as TikTok, Telegram and WhatsApp.
