Developers from the independent studio 314 Arts have unveiled a gameplay trailer for NightRunner, a co-op roguelike shooter with an evacuation theme. The project also features tower defense mechanics and even dungeon crawling.
In NightRunner, players travel on an armored train through a world overrun by mutants. A team of up to four players will complete missions, collect weapons and resources, fortify train cars, and reach an extraction point.
The developers drew inspiration from games like Killing Floor, Call of Duty: Zombies, and Escape from Tarkov. The game’s main feature is the train itself. At the start of each run, all participants’ train cars are combined into a train that moves continuously forward.
Players can exit at stops and venture into dangerous areas to collect loot, then return to the train. If one train car is destroyed, the team doesn’t lose outright: they must retreat to the next one and continue their defense.
You can lose absolutely everything. To keep the equipment you’ve found, the train must reach its destination safely. Failure to complete the mission means the loss of both the items you brought along and all the loot you collected during the raid.
Before each new raid, participants will be able to change their equipment and upgrade their weapons. Four classes are available to choose from: Engineer, Stalker, Field Expert, and Termite. Each specializes in their own role and requires teamwork.
NightRunner will be released on PC (Steam) in 2027. The developers plan to conduct open testing in September 2026.
