Xiaomi Unveils Poco M8s 5G With 7,000 mAh Battery

Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Poco, has unveiled a new budget smartphone, the M8s. It features a capacious 7,000 mAh battery—Xiaomi claims the smartphone can operate even at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
The Poco M8s 5G smartphone features a 6.9-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144Hz, delivering a brightness of up to 850 cd/m². The display supports Wet Touch Technology 2.0, which allows it to respond to wet fingers. It also boasts three TÜV Rheinland eye care certifications, confirming reduced eye strain during prolonged use.
The smartphone is powered by a 6nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor with a clock speed of up to 2.30 GHz and an Adreno 619 GPU. It features up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.2 flash memory, expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.
The rear camera has a 50 MP main module and a secondary sensor. For selfies, there’s an 8 MP camera.
The 7,000 mAh battery can provide up to two days of battery life on a single charge. According to Poco, the battery retains 80% or more of its capacity after 1,600 full charge cycles. The battery is reportedly designed to maintain stable operation in temperatures as low as -20°C. It supports 33W fast charging and 18W reverse charging. It also uses POCO Smart Charging Engine 2.0 technology to optimize battery health.
The Poco M8s will be available in black and white colors, priced at $189 for the base (6GB+128GB) version.
