Elon Musk stated on Joe Rogan’s podcast that the Tesla Roadster electric car will be unveiled before the end of 2025.

I can’t do a presentation before it’s officially unveiled,” Musk said. He also added that the new Roadster “has every chance of being the most memorable product unveiling in history.”

Sam Altman’s recent announcement that he was attempting to cancel an order for his Tesla Roadster electric sports car prompted immediate comment from the CEO. The first-generation car was released in 2008, and in 2017, Musk unveiled the second-generation Roadster. The company began accepting orders for its delivery in the future, which was continually delayed.

During a recent interview, Elon Musk mentioned the Tesla Roadster’s previously discussed ability to fly, but he did so in rather vague terms. He merely added that “this car will have crazy technology, really crazy.” In a sense, he added, the new Roadster won’t even be considered a car. It will be “crazier than everything James Bond ever owned combined,” as Musk put it. He previously reported that the rocket nozzles developed by SpaceX will allow the new Roadster not only to corner at high speeds but also to temporarily lift off the ground. The car should literally hover above the ground. Perhaps the Tesla CEO was referring to precisely this technical feature when he spoke of “crazy technology.”

However, the main problem for all “flying machines” remains the same: safety and certification. To fly in the US, a pilot must be licensed, and full autonomy creates other challenges, from air traffic coordination to emergency management.
