Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 Tactical Edition Rugged Tablet Unveiled

Samsung Electronics America announced the expansion of its Tactical Edition line with the new Galaxy Tab Active5 Tactical Edition tablet. This device was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense and is intended for military and special forces.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Tactical Edition is said to inherit all the key features of previous generations of the Tactical Edition family, including compatibility with tactical radios and support for mission-specific software, and also includes new hardware enhancements. The tablet supports connectivity to most tactical radios, UAV systems, laser rangefinders, external GPS, and provides full cellular connectivity including 5G, LTE, CBRS, Wi-Fi 6E, and AT&T FirstNet Ready.

The device’s 5G band lock mode allows it to connect only to certified networks. Military personnel can also use Stealth Mode for offline communications, disabling LTE, e-911, and all radio frequency broadcasts. Hypervisor Device Manager (HDM) technology is used to protect against hacking.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Tactical Edition is available exclusively through distributor Vertex Wireless and is certified for use in covert military operations.
