Nvidia GPUs To Go To The Moon By The End Of The Year

Lunar Outpost develops robotic systems for space infrastructure. The new rover will be delivered to the Moon by Intuitive Machines’ lander and will explore hard-to-reach areas, including craters. The company’s next mission will be to the Reiner Gamma region, a region with a magnetic anomaly whose origin remains a subject of scientific interest.
Jetson chips were originally designed for compact, energy-efficient systems that require processing data from cameras and other sensors directly on the device, without transmitting all the information to remote servers. Lunar Outpost will test whether this platform can replace some of the traditional onboard computing systems already used in spacecraft.
The main challenge for GPUs on the Moon is the environment. Unlike many spacecraft in low-Earth orbit, lunar technology is directly exposed to cosmic radiation and extreme temperature fluctuations, and its systems must operate under limited power consumption.
