Neuralink Implants Brain Of Its Second Patient

Back in July, Neuralink CEO Elon Musk announced that the company’s second patient would receive a brain implant to restore lost neural function that month. Apparently, the operation was successful, as Musk announced the arrival of a second patient with a Neuralink implant earlier this month.

The second volunteer reportedly had the same spinal cord injury as the first patient who received the chip.

The head of Neuralink did not disclose the date when the second patient underwent the procedure to implant the chip into his brain. However, he noted that Neuralink will implant eight more patients this year as part of its clinical trials.

Let us recall that the first patient, Noland Arbaugh, who received the implant back in January, later experienced a loss of contact between some of the implanted electrodes and the cerebral cortex, which is why Neuralink specialists had to compensate for these changes by adjusting the algorithm for interpreting nerve impulses into control commands.
