Lucid Shows Off Tesla-Ported Gravity SUV
At its Technology and Manufacturing Day event on Tuesday, American electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid revealed new information about the charging port it plans to install in its new Gravity SUV.
Lucid could be the first company to place the charging port on the driver’s side of the car, like Tesla’s. With this placement, it likely won’t block access to multiple Supercharger stations while charging, as it does with a CCS-NACS adapter. Lucid also announced a midsize SUV priced “under $50,000” for late 2026. It will be built on a new, still-in-development Midsize platform using the next-generation Atlas drivetrain.
Tesla’s connector, known as the North American Charging Standard, or NACS, is planned by nearly every automaker for their upcoming EV models.
So far, Hyundai has shown off its 2025 Loniq 5 EV with a native NACS port, and Rivian’s upcoming R2 SUV has also confirmed a NACS port.
