Legendary DOOM Co-Creator John Romero Is Working On A New First-Person Shooter 

One of the creators of Doom, John Romero, announced that he was working on a shooter in a new universe.  It is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 with the support of a major publisher, who has not yet been named.

Studio Romero Games, which John Romero founded with his wife, called the upcoming game a new milestone for the team. The developers decided to focus entirely on first-person shooters, for the creation of which they are recruiting new employees.

John Romero co-founded id Software in the 90s, pioneering the first-person shooter genre and coining the term deathmatch.  In addition to Doom, he has also worked on series such as Wolfenstein, Hexen and Quake.

He founded his new studio with his wife in 2015, who most recently released the strategy RPG Empire of Sin on Switch and several other platforms.  Classic games he has worked on, such as Doom and Quake, are also available on the Switch eShop.

The release date or platform of the new Romero Games game has not yet been announced.
