ASRock Unveils World’s First Ryzen 8040 Mini PC With Improved AI Engine

ASRock has updated its series of compact 4X4 BOX motherboards and its range of mini-PCs based on them, equipping its proprietary solutions with fresh AMD processors. The company revealed the technical characteristics of the new products and talked about their key features.
The new items are housed in a case with dimensions of 117.5×110.0×49.0 mm. The AMD Ryzen 8040 hardware platform is used. 4X4 BOX-8640U and 4X4 BOX-8840U models are available, respectively equipped with the Ryzen 5 8640U (6 cores; 12 threads; up to 4.9 GHz) and Ryzen 7 8840U (8 cores; 16 threads; up to 5.1 GHz). Both have an integrated AMD Radeon Graphics controller. Active cooling is used.
Two SO-DIMM slots are available for DDR5-5600 modules with a total capacity of up to 96 GB. You can install two SSDs – in M.2 2242/2280 and M.2 2242 formats with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. The equipment includes 2.5GbE (Realtek RTL8125BG) and 1GbE (Realtek RTL8111H) network adapters, Realtek ALC256 audio codec, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax and Bluetooth 5.2 controllers.
ASRock has not announced prices or when it will be available for sale. Officially, the AMD Ryzen 8040U APU series should appear on store shelves in the first quarter of 2024.
