OpenAI Plans to Bring Sora Video Generator to ChatGPT
OpenAI intends to eventually integrate its AI-powered video generation tool Sora directly into its popular consumer chatbot app ChatGPT, company executives said during a Discord session Friday.
Today, Sora is only available through a standalone web app released in December, which can generate cinematic-quality videos up to 20 seconds long. However, Rohan Sahai, the head of the Sora project at OpenAI, said the company plans to expand the service’s reach and the capabilities of the video generator. Initially, when the service was not yet publicly available, the company promoted it to creative professionals and video production studios. Now, OpenAI is making a more targeted effort to make Sora more attractive. The company intends to merge Sora with ChatGPT, but no timeline has been announced yet. In the new format, the video generator will be less functional compared to a standalone web app where you can edit and assemble videos.
Sahai added that OpenAI is also working on a new version of Sora Turbo, the model that currently powers the Sora web app.
