BM Acquired Two Cloud Platforms From Software AG For €2.13 Billion
The American International Business Machines (IBM) has agreed to purchase platforms for integrating business data and applications StreamSets and webMethods from the German Software AG for 2.13 billion euros, according to an IBM press release.
The transaction will be paid for with available funds. Its closure is expected in the second quarter of 2024.
StreamSets is a cloud-based DataOps system that allows you to organize consistent access and delivery of different types of data from a wide range of sources. Additionally, the platform makes it easier to design intelligent data pipelines and gain real-time insights. In turn, webMethods is a solution for API integration and management. The platform can be deployed locally or in the cloud. The system provides B2B integration, managed file transfer, etc.
IBM notes that the deal is part of a strategy aimed at developing AI and hybrid cloud. In particular, StreamSets will allow IBM to expand the functionality of watsonx, a platform that simplifies the implementation of AI in various fields. And webMethods will provide customers and partners with additional integration and API management tools for hybrid multi-cloud environments.
Integration solutions are critical to effectively deploying AI and modernizing applications, notes IBM. According to research firm IDC, the global market for these solutions will exceed $18 billion in 2027.
